In Home Euthanasia

We all hope and wish that our furry family members could live as long as we do, unfortunately this is usually not the case. Sometimes they become terminally ill and we just cannot bear to watch them suffer because we care for them so much. Perhaps they have just lived so long that they can no longer have a decent quality of life. Therefore we make a decision in their best interest to end their suffering. In home euthanasia offers a low stress solution for you and your companion to say goodbye within familiar and comfortable surroundings.

Euthanasia and cremation options:

The decision to euthanize a pet is a difficult and very personal one.  We offer four options to choose from:

EUTHANASIA ONLY - $250: This includes only the euthanasia. We will leave your pet with you to make whatever arrangements you choose.

COMMUNAL  CREMATION - $400: This includes euthanasia and cremation. This is not an individual cremation and does not include the return of ashes.

**Clay paw print is available for an additional $30.

PARTITIONED CREMATION - $500: This includes euthanasia and cremation performed with a partition separating each pet individually with ashes returned in a basic urn. Additionally you will receive a certificate of cremation.

**Clay paw prints are available for an additional $30 each.

PRIVATE CREMATION - $600: This includes euthanasia and your pet being cremated alone and the return of their ashes in an urn. Additionally you receive 1 clay paw print and certificate of cremation.

**Additional clay paw prints are available for an additional $30 each.

All cremations are performed by a licensed pet crematory. Your pet will be respectfully transported for you wrapped in a soft blanket in our vehicle directly to the crematorium unless you have made other arrangements.

Unfortunately sometimes our pets pass away on their own at home. If this unfortunate event occurs, we are able to talk with you about the different cremation options and costs. We can then pick your pet up from your home and have your pet cremated according to your wishes. The cost for this would be $50 plus the cost of cremation option you choose.

HOW TO PREPARE AT HOME

Find a quiet and comfortable place for both you and your pet such as a favorite room or their bed. Outside is also fine if that is most comfortable for everyone. Pick out a blanket or sheet you would like them to lie on keeping in mind that it is not uncommon for them to soil their bedding once they are relaxed.  We also provide blankets and pads .

Friends and family are also welcome to be there as are other pets. We leave it up to the parents to decide if children should be present.  In our experience very young children have difficulty understanding and even if they are not particularly attached to the pet, they can easily get caught up in the emotions of the experience and those around them.

WHAT TO EXPECT WHEN WE ARRIVE

We will arrive at the scheduled appointment time. We will spend some time with both you and your pet and make sure that you are comfortable with your decision. There is a little paperwork to take care of before we proceed.  This includes just some basic information and your signature for permission to euthanize which also states that your pet has not bitten anyone in the last 10 days.

You will also have your choice of aftercare (see above for options and prices)

We will place an IV catheter and when you are ready, your pet will receive a small injection of medication that will relax your pet and cause them to fall asleep.  You can leave the room for the final injection if you prefer or you can be with or hold your pet during the entire procedure.  This is a very personal decision and there is no right or wrong one. Once your pet is asleep, the final injection is given intravenously. They will not know or feel anything at this point and quickly and quietly slip away in their sleep. They will not appear any differently than when they were sleeping.

You are welcome to spend as much time as you need with your pet before we leave.
